Is your life plan giving you life? What is a life plan? It’s a way to identify your motivation, skills and personal goals. Actually, it’s how you figure out what you really want out of life. So now you’re thinking, what does that have to do with becoming an entrepreneur and starting a business. When you start a business you must align you personal and professional lives. Developing a life plan is the best way to achieve that. Your business plan must align with your life plan. If it doesn’t guess what: the business will fail.
Which one is it for you? People who have an entrepreneurial mindset are typically motivated by 5 basic things. Control, freedom, money, problem solving and creativity. For me it was freedom. The freedom and the flexibility that came with that motivated me the most. After a 20 year military career, freedom and flexibility truly inspired me. Work/life balance is a major focus for me and although I am driven by deadlines, structure not so much.
My sister warrior, so often in life, it seems things first get worse on the way toward getting better. Be prepared for that sort of development. Problems belong in the process. They are part of the equation that produces your personal effectiveness. They are not proof that your ambitions are futile or that you should give up. Failure is a resource. It helps you find the edge of your capacities. There is a reason you made it here.I want you to take a moment and think about what will happen in your life if you keep waiting and thinking you’ll figure it out on your own.
